Sterling YMCA Bridges Replacement

The Sterling YMCA, in Beverly, MA has a network of trails that are used during summer camps and other activities, and there were some bridges that had seen some better days. We didn't do any work on the well established trails, but per the client request we installed newer, better, in-kind bridges. And while the work itself was an easy lift, because the bridges crossed some small streams, the project was presented to the local Conservation Commission for permitting.

All the construction was done off-site in the Northeast Trailworks fabrication shop, and when ready the structures were brought to the trailhead and carried in by hand. The work took the two of us two days - one for fabrication, the other for delivery & installation. Stream banks were hardened with found rocks to place the bridges on, so as to avoid direct contact of the pressure treated lumber with damp soils.
